I’ve written before on “12 Reasons Why Prayer Doesn’t Work.” Many can become frustrated when they don’t see any success in their prayers.
As believers, we must investigate to see if we are living in such a way that our prayers can be heard.
In our disobedience, it may not be that God disagrees with our prayers, he may simply not be listening to them. We must do some serious evaluation to determine if our prayers are hitting the ceiling.
One major block to our prayers is when we ask for things that go against God’s will.
Now this is the confidence we have before Him: Whenever we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears whatever we ask, we know that we have what we have asked Him for. -1 John 5:14-15
Why do we desire to know God’s will?
We desire to know God’s will because we want to know God’s heart! His ways are always better (Is. 55:8-9). When we know his will, we know his way and can walk in it.
How good of a chance do we have for our desires to be met if they are in disagreement with the will of God?
Make no mistake about it – God’s purpose will prevail (Prov. 19:21). We just have to learn how to pray according to his will.
How do you understand what the will of God is (Eph. 5:17)?
You do not conform yourself to this world but be transformed by the renewing of your mind so that you may prove what the will of God is (Rom. 12:2).
The will of God is contained in the Word of God!
As Scripture transforms your mind, God’s desires become your own desires.
When you pray according to God’s will contained within God’s Word, you have God’s promise that it will succeed!
