How Jesus Prayed for Us

Did you know that you have a prayer partner?

His name is Jesus.

Therefore, He is always able to save those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to intercede for them.  -Heb. 7:25

Part of your progress has been due to the diligent prayers that he has prayed on your behalf.  And, guess what?  I have great news!

As he has prayed for you, he will continue to pray for you.

Have you ever wondered what kind of things Jesus has prayed for you?

Wonder no more.

Nearing the cross, Jesus prayed for himself, his disciples, and also us.  Read what he prayed that day:

20 I pray not only for these, but also for those who believe in Me through their message.

21 May they all be one, as You, Father, are in Me and I am in You.  May they also be one in Us, so the world may believe You sent Me.

22 I have given them the glory You have given Me.  May they be one as We are one.

23 I am in them and You are in Me.  May they be made completely one, so the world may know You have sent Me and have loved them as You have loved Me.

24 Father, I desire those You have given Me to be with Me where I am.  Then they will see My glory, which You have given Me because You loved Me before the world’s foundation.

25 Righteous Father!  The world has not known You.  However, I have known You, and these have known that You sent Me.

26 I made Your name known to them and will make it known, so the love You have loved Me with may be in them and I may be in them.  -John 17:20-26

Did you catch the things he prayed for concerning us?

He prayed for our:

  • faith
  • unity
  • mission success
  • glory
  • growth
  • love
  • fellowship with him

What glorious things to pray for!  These are the things he sees as most important – are we attempting to work against him?

  1. He prayed for our faith to increase, are we trusting in ourselves?
  2. He prayed for our unity, are we being divisive?
  3. He prayed for our growth, are we making any attempts at it?

We know what Jesus prayed for us!  We know that Jesus actually prayed for us!

If yesterday seems tarnished, today seems bleak, and tomorrow seems overwhelming, realize this: the King of kings and Lord of lords has prayed this over you!

He lives to pray for you now!  You are not alone!  Prayer is your connection with your prayer partner.

Spend some time in prayer thanking him.  Acknowledge how you are seeing that happen in your life.

And take comfort in the fact that a glorious someone is praying for you!
