Summer in the Psalms

This summer, our church will spend eight weeks walking through selected psalms that help us learn how to relate to God in every season of life.

The Book of Psalms has been called the hymnbook and prayer book of God’s people. More than any other book in Scripture, the Psalms teach us how to bring our hearts before the Lord. They give voice to praise and lament, confidence and fear, confession and thanksgiving, joy and sorrow. They remind us that faith is not the absence of struggle but the decision to bring every struggle to God.

One of the reasons we chose these particular psalms is that they align with a prayer practice we have encouraged as a church family for years. We challenge our members to pray through the Psalm that corresponds to the calendar day of the month. For example, on the fifth day of the month, you would pray Psalm 5. On the twenty-fifth day, you could pray Psalm 25, and in subsequent months, you can also add thirty and pray Psalm 55, Psalm 85, Psalm 115, and so on. This simple habit helps believers develop a consistent prayer life while becoming more familiar with one of the most beloved books in the Bible.

The psalms selected are on the psalm of that particular Sunday.

Throughout this series, we will explore several of those psalms together and discover how God meets His people in every circumstance of life.

Psalms (8 Weeks)

The Psalms give voice to the full range of human experience, showing how God meets His people in joy, sorrow, and hope. As we walk through these songs, we will learn how to bring every part of our lives before the Lord in worshipful trust.

06.07.26

Witness & Worship

Psalm 67:1-7 – The psalmist pleads for God’s blessing so that all nations might see His saving power. When God’s grace rests on you, your worship will lead you to witness.

06.14.26

Foolishness & Faith

Psalm 14:1-7 – David laments a world where people live as if God does not exist. Don’t succumb to the foolishness of this age of unbelief.

06.21.26

Confession & Cleansing

Psalm 51:1-19 – After being confronted over sin, David cries out for mercy and seeks a new heart. When you stop hiding and start confessing, God graciously provides the cleansing you cannot produce on your own.

06.28.26

Strength & Shield

Psalm 28:1-9 – Surrounded by threats, David calls on the Lord as his only source of help and protection. If God is your strength and shield, you can face pressures without letting fear define you.

07.05.26

Mornings & Mercies

Psalm 5:1-12 – David begins his day by directing his voice and his trust toward God. Each new day invites you to seek His mercies in the morning rather than carrying yesterday’s worries alone.

07.12.26

Weeping & Wonder

Psalm 42:1-11 – A discouraged psalmist wrestles with spiritual dryness while longing again for God’s presence. Even in seasons of weeping, hold on to the wonder of the God who meets you in the depths.

07.19.26

Creation & Commands

Psalm 19:1-14 – The heavens declare God’s glory, and His Word reveals His character with perfect clarity. Let His creation inspire awe while His commands lead you toward a life that pleases Him.

07.26.26

Life & Loss

Psalm 116:1-19 – The psalmist celebrates God’s deliverance after coming face-to-face with death. Since loss is inevitable, let it shape the way you trust God with your life.

We hope you will join us this summer as we learn to pray, worship, confess, trust, and hope alongside the saints who penned these inspired songs. No matter what season of life you are facing, the Psalms remind us that God is worthy of our trust and always near to those who call upon Him.
