My 2022 in 22 Pictures

I started reflecting on 2022 and felt in awe of God’s goodness. It has been the most fruitful year in many ways while also one of the most challenging. I don’t think those two are disconnected.

How do you summarize a year in the life of an individual, family, and calling? I went through the archives and decided that the best way to do it was by sharing 22 pictures that best summarize what God did around me in 2022.

I found the best way to stay consistent in my daily Bible meditation. I shared it with others, and it is changing the way we lead people in our church (and beyond).
3 out of 5 of us finally got COVID in January and enjoyed some trail walks for sanity.
We did have decent snow in January, which prompted Peter to walk/fall on ice with Jesus picking him up.
We launched the Entrust Institute at the beginning of the year with 120 coming the first night to Systematic Theology II (3 receiving seminary credit).
The boys were excited that we got to meet Dabo when we spoke at a Men’s Conference together.
Our family was hit with numerous attacks throughout the year, but we kept pushing through and attempting to stay faithful regardless of the circumstances.
Our church really picked up going out and helping with the newly-formed Recommission Network. By the end of 2022, we had 5 churches partnering together (with a goal of 7 by 2025).
I changed some aspects of staff development this year by bringing in outside leaders to invest in our crew. I have loved watching all of us grow.
We partnered with Tigerville Baptist which was a 20-year prayer request of mine.
We baptized 30 people on Easter. I’ve never experienced anything like it. By the end of the year, Rocky Creek saw 80 people baptized and 155 join the church.
I got to travel and see how different communities were utilizing Distinctive Discipleship within churches and across denominations.
We bought a mission house next to our church campus. The story of its timing, work, and funding is mind-boggling.
This beautiful lady and I celebrated 18 years of marriage. God has been so good to us.
90 students started following Jesus at Fuge Ridgecrest and Fuge NGU.
I turned 41. I’m not slowing down (yet).
We finished renovation to our kids and preschool area on the church campus.
I watched my sons develop as leaders in numerous ways this year, and it has been amazing to have a front row seat to it.
I released a premarital counseling book entitled Just (About) Married.
Eli completed his first duathlon, and I improved my triathlon time by ten minutes.
At Rocky Creek, I preached through 1 Thessalonians, Parables, Nehemiah, and Fear Not.
I stepped up my field trip involvement with my kids this year and made some fun memories.
These people are a gift to me.

Let’s see what God might do in 2023!
