The Excursion

As God’s people wandered in the wilderness, His faithfulness continued to them regardless of their unfaithfulness toward Him. As they entered and settled into the Promised Land, they had to yet again make a decision of who they would follow.

The Nature of God

Knowing who God is helps us comprehend what it is that God does. Within Scripture, we discover the glorious nature of God by embracing all of His attributes.

Spiritual Warfare and Kingdom Advancement

1 Thessalonians 2:17-20 – When we engage in ministry, we encounter opposition potentially originating from Satan and his forces. We must open our eyes to the conflict hindering us from knowing how to push forward.

Make Disciples – Not Converts

Jesus commanded us to do more than just make converts; He commanded us to make disciples. Our work is incomplete until every other disciple is complete.

The Exodus

God created a world and covenanted with a people. As this family grew into a nation, they were sovereignly placed into the most powerful nation in the world. This nation now had the opportunity to tell all nations about the God above all other gods.

Five Years

In five years, God has done so much through the ministry of Rocky Creek. It is so difficult to express my gratitude for God’s faithfulness and this church’s willingness.

Scripture

The reality of Scripture indicates a glorious message – the omniscient God desires to communicate with us. The way we undertake bibliology will be the single most determining factor in developing our theology.

Scriptural Standard

1 Thessalonians 2:13-16 – In every culture, people’s opinions are rampant and varied, but we need the consistent, reliable source of truth found in the Word of God. Scripture is our sole standard as we seek to live for Jesus.

Explanation Without Exaggeration

Our world is polarized on absolutely everything. One way to deescalate conflict is to summarize another’s viewpoint by providing an explanation without an exaggeration.

The Patriarchs

As God works through a family to usher in redemption to the world, the opening pages of the Bible portray a grouping of fragile people prone to multiple failures. Despite their missteps, God proves His unwavering faithfulness time and time again.

The Missing Component in Discipleship

One of the most glaringly obvious omissions in our discipleship is the person doing the discipling. Our commitment to fleshing out our personal walks with Christ overlooks our need to learn from one another.

Be Watchful

If anyone should have had the advantage to repeat successes and to reject failures, it was King Rehoboam, son of Solomon and grandson of David.  But instead of learning from those before him, he actually did worse than them because he fell into five common traps that many men fall in as well.

Everyone Discipling Someone

1 Thessalonians 2:7-12 – If we genuinely care for others, we will prioritize their spiritual development. It is hard to fathom the impact we could see if everyone took the responsibility to disciple at least one other person.

How Sensual Exposure Affects a Marriage

One of the greatest threats to sexual purity and marital intimacy is the exposure of immoral material present in our society. Being a member of this culture ensures that you have been exposed to sinful content and suggestive comments that distort sexual sanctity.

The Beginning

In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth. With that opening line, the Bible begins and God’s grand narrative for redemption never looks back. Beyond those opening lines, do you know what God is trying to communicate?

Natural Revelation

God has graciously revealed Himself to Mankind through His Creation and His Word. Natural Revelation is God’s attempt outside of Scripture to awaken our need for Him.

The Only Approval Required

When we live our lives for Jesus, He is the only affirmation we need to receive. If we can maintain the perspective that we live for an audience of one, we can seek to please Him in every aspect of our lives.

The Programmatic Early Church

Ministry often happens by unexpected opportunities, but they are often crafted and even encouraged by intentional gatherings. Programs aren’t evil. They are even somewhat necessary.

Reprioritizing Relationships

Once you are married, you must reprioritize every relationship in your life to be subordinate to the unique and exclusive relationship with your spouse. This shift doesn’t mean that you end all other relationships, but you must reprioritize them.

Bible Reading Challenge

For all the failed attempts at reading God’s Word, you still have this nagging desire to know it better. Instead of wallowing in regret or focusing on failures, make a plan to go forward. You can read the Bible. You can know God better.

The Church That Won’t Stay Inside

1 Thessalonians 1:8-10 – If God is doing work inside a church, those who are outside should truly feel the effects of it. As we wait for the return of Christ, we should be the type of disciples unwilling to keep Kingdom activity within the walls of a church building.

Bible Reading Basics

We all know the discouragement that comes when we attempt to read the Bible with great eagerness only to quit once a personal streak is broken. If we are going to be committed to knowing the God of the Bible, we must maintain our time in it.

Distinctive Discipleship

If every Christian is in a unique place surrounded by specific challenges, why do we think that a widespread approach will work for every single one of us? Let me help you design a personal plan for spiritual maturity.

Stand Up for an Old Man

Age is intended to bring about a certain level of dignity and respect. Unfortunately, the older you get, the more neglected you become in our culture.

Disregarding the Marriage Owner Manual

Within his carefully crafted manual, God teaches me everything I need to start marriage well and to see it to completion. So, why do I resist learning from Him and try to do it on my own?

Finally Reading Your Bible

While much of the world is busy making resolutions that may not last the month, I want to encourage you instead to make a plan for the most life-changing habit you can have in this life – reading your Bible. It’s time to put down the excuses.

The Old Testament

The Old Testament archives the beginning of God’s work to redeem God’s people. From the very beginning, God had a plan that no enmity or enemy could stop.

1 Thessalonians

Paul’s letter to the Thessalonian church portrayed a healthy church that he hoped could even get healthier. In light of Christ’s return and the promise of heaven, this church could stand strong in the culture and make a difference in every context in which God placed them.

Thanking God for This Church

1 Thessalonians 1:1-3 – Paul planted a church in Thessalonica, and, years later, he wrote them to express his genuine gratitude and persistent prayer for the congregation. As we look around our church family, we can also stand in awe of what Christ has done and anticipate what He will do.
