Over lunch today, I told Amanda: “I have never seen such a hunger for God in our congregation than what I am seeing right now.”
It’s true. The people are rising up to be all that God has called them to be. Their worship is more sincere. Their intentionality is through the roof. The expectations are rising. It’s incredible to watch.
Today, we started by singing “Living Hope” and a new Matt Redman song entitled “Sing and Shout.” This song has been a favorite around our house as of late. We also tagged “Nothing But the Blood” at the end of the song.
We then broke into small groups and prayed for four of our missionary partners (Sharpes, Hills, Wolfes, Stacie). All of these are reaching the nations and it is a privilege to go to God on their behalf. Hearing hundreds of prayers going up at the same time for these missionaries was incredible.
We then taught a snippet of “Future/Past” (which we will do in its entirety next week), “My Jesus I Love Thee,” and “Lord I Need You.” These songs were intended to display the desperation we have for God and the truth of God.
Jeff’s message was such a great reminder of how we need to be reminded of the truths of the gospel time and time again. There are many out there watering down the gospel, setting out to meet felt needs, and tickling the ears of those in attendance. We don’t need clever anecdotes or catchy opinions from preachers – we need the truth of God.
