Understanding the Faith of the Jehovah’s Witnesses

Have you ever wondered about the beliefs of Jehovah’s Witnesses?  Here is a summary of their history and beliefs. History Begun by Charles Taze Russell (1852-1916) in 1872. His family was a part of a Presbyterian church in Pittsburgh. Russell had difficulty accepting the doctrine of an eternal hell. This prompted him to deny eternal punishment, the Trinity, the deity …

The Danger of Worldliness

I tend to look at the shape of our world and the morals of people who aren’t following Jesus and think that I am a pretty good guy.  I look around at how blatantly sinful other people are, and my “respectable” and “quiet” sins don’t seem as severe, and gradually I just get complacent. I look at other people’s standard …

Do As I Say (When You Don’t Need to Do What I Did)

One of your children’s most beloved books in your home might soon be your high school yearbook.  Your children know you as a responsible (or somewhat responsible) adult fully equipped with bills, a job, and a minivan, yet before they ever knew you, a lot of your life had already been lived.  Seeing your extracurricular activities, fashion statements, and funny …

The Word [100 Day Chronological Bible Reading Plan]

I searched for a chronological plan that would highlight key passages, and while there are many good ones out there, I chose to develop our own at North Side.  While I think it is best to read the entirety of God’s Word, this plan is a good introductory plan for some of you or a good reminder of what you …

Think Projects – Not Tasks

What I find is that it is very difficult for me to get into a creative and productive rhythm when I jump from role to role and task to task. I find when I do the same task over and over, I get faster and more effective as the time goes. And that is why I choose to think projects instead of tasks.

Don’t Evaluate What You Do – Evaluate How You Do It

When I look at my work week, so much of how I do things came from time spent evaluating how I have done things. I have found so many wiser ways of doing things and that process has allowed me to be a part of more Kingdom-focused projects as a result. Don’t evaluate what you do. Evaluate how you do it.

Be the Protest

I was sitting in a hotel room with my family when the verdict was announced.  I had the TV quiet enough not to wake the children as I read the subtitles over the paired videos of President Obama calling for peace on one side and watching Ferguson completely unravel on the other side. As tears filled my eyes, I longed for heaven. …

“Peace on Earth” New Recording

Two years ago, we decided to record a bluegrass Christmas album.  As we finished up the project, I wrote a Christmas song that was a very different approach for me.  It felt more like a country song than anything else I had ever written. The concept of the song was my attempt to deal with the lack of peace in …

Agnew Christmas Tree 2014

After a year hiatus, I am bringing back the Agnew Christmas Tree Decoration Extravaganza.  This year had 5 of us running around like crazy finishing up the tree in less than 3 minutes.  Quite impressive I might say especially since we had some dead strands of lights and had to redo the lighting schematics.

Fun times – I love my family!

What’s Family Camp About?

At Family Camp, we want to help your family make a memory for a lifetime.

We know that it is very easy for a family to drift away from one another.  Special events and summertime trips are often reserved for parents paying for their children to go on trips with other people.  Oftentimes, many children and teens have their most pivotal, spiritual moments away from their parents.

We need to change that.

It’s time to bring the family back together.

At Family Camp, your family will be able to enjoy a week that is unlike any other week in your year.  Imagine a week that is part vacation, part marriage conference, part spiritual renewal, part youth camp, and part adventure and you get a taste of what Family Camp is all about.
