The LORD Is My Healer

Exodus 15:22-27 – When the Israelites discovered bitter water at the beginning of their trek through the wilderness, God instructed Moses on how to make it sweet. God reminded them that He is their Healer, and we must remember that no situation is behind His remedying.

The LORD Is My Strength and My Song

Exodus 15:1-21 – At the banks of the Red Sea, the victorious Israelites worshiped the God who had saved them. We should live lifestyles of worship, constantly expressing gratitude to our faithful Deliverer.

The LORD Is My Waymaker

Exodus 14:1-31 – With the sea in front of them and the enemy behind them, the Israelites were out of options unless God did something miraculous. The LORD has proved to be a waymaker time and time again for the people of God.

God Leads Through Paths Unexpected

Exodus 13:17-22 – God led the Israelites through unexpected paths by unusual guides as they left Egypt. We must maintain trust even when God leads in ways we do not understand.

Remember How God Brought You Out

Exodus 13:1-16 – When the Israelites emerged from Egypt, God gave them a chance to live again. Jesus has defeated our greatest enemies and set us free to follow Him all the way to the Promised Land.

Remember How God Passed You Over

Exodus 12:1-50 – In the final plague, God passed over those who believed in the power of a sacrificial substitute. Jesus’ sacrifice satisfies our deserving punishment, and we are given life through His death.

When God Confronts Pride

Exodus 9:8-11:10 – In the final five plagues, God humbles a man who considers himself a god and a people who thought themselves untouchable. God opposes the proud and will use any means necessary to humble us.

When God Attacks Affluence

Exodus 7:14-9:7 – In the first five plagues, God shows His power over the gods of Egypt and attacks the Egyptians’ many sources of affluence. Nothing in this world deserves our wholehearted trust and allegiance.

Introducing the Nations to the One True God

Exodus 7:1-13 – While the planned Exodus served to rescue God’s people, He also intended it to wake Egypt up to His supremacy compared to the gods of this world. Never overlook how God uses His work among His people to bring the nations to Him.

Your Family Tree Doesn’t Disqualify You

Exodus 6:14-30 – Before the plagues commenced, Scripture provides a genealogy for Moses and Aaron, highlighting their unsavory family line. Just like these two who were used mightily by God, nothing in your family tree can disqualify you from God’s service.

There’s Not a Situation God Can’t Redeem

Exodus 6:2-13 – God reassured Moses that He would be able to redeem the people no matter how bad the opposition seemed to be. In the circumstances that impact our lives, we must remember that there’s not a situation God can’t redeem.

When Things Get Worse Before They Get Better

Exodus 5:1-6:1 – Moses’ initial efforts only increased Pharaoh’s narcissistic rage and the Israelites’ horrific conditions. We must hold on to God’s promises when things get worse before they get better.

Hardened Hearts All Around

Exodus 4:18-31 – As Moses prepared to return to Egypt, God prepared him for the hardening of Pharaoh’s heart, but a curious event on the way showed that Moses wasn’t exempt from that very thing. We must prioritize assessing our own personal obedience.

Attempting God’s Work Through Your Power

Exodus 2:11-25 – Moses desired to deliver God’s people through his strength, but his efforts would never suffice. If God calls us to something great, we must realize His power must accomplish it.

Divine Rescue and Placement

Exodus 2:1-10 – In what seemed like a random set of events surrounding the first few months of Moses’ life, God orchestrated details to save Moses and God’s people. God rescues us from danger to place us in the center of His plans.

The Ferocious & Futile Plan of Our Enemy

Exodus 1:8-22 – The Israelites intimidated the Egyptian Pharaoh, so he used all forces at his disposal to reduce their presence. No matter how much God’s enemies oppose His people, they will never fully succeed.

2023 Sermon Plan

For 2023, our church is going to study the Book of Exodus in its entirety. The breakdown of the book charts a course for us as we study the Word of God together.

Evaluating Margins

If you are at the place in your life where you have so much to do that you don’t know what to do next, it’s probably because you aren’t doing the important work of evaluation. You must ensure that you can step back to get a handle on your chaos.

Unlikely Contributions

We often categorize people’s skills by those which can serve sacred situations and others which can work in secular environments. To our detriment, we wrongly characterize the majority of how God has equipped people to a point of no usability.

Golden Distractions

Once leaving Egypt, the Israelites were so ingrained in the former culture, that they continued to worship idols. The people took a gift from God and used it as a replacement for God.

If Your Children Worship Like You

Will you pleased if your children worship like you? Cause if you want them to have a deeper spiritual fervor than your own, you might want to start giving them an example to imitate.

The Exodus

God created a world and covenanted with a people. As this family grew into a nation, they were sovereignly placed into the most powerful nation in the world. This nation now had the opportunity to tell all nations about the God above all other gods.

How Sensual Exposure Affects a Marriage

One of the greatest threats to sexual purity and marital intimacy is the exposure of immoral material present in our society. Being a member of this culture ensures that you have been exposed to sinful content and suggestive comments that distort sexual sanctity.

Generational Curses

God’s Word exposes numerous issues for any family to address in order to walk in conformity with his standard and design. A misunderstanding of generational curses can discourage people from making noble attempts to turn a family’s legacy around.

Controlling Comparison

The 10th commandment warns against coveting. While this sin may be last on the list, it is one of the most prevalent in our hearts. In fact, our casual acceptance of it reveals that we don’t take it that seriously. Deep down, this is as serious of a sin as they come. It’s time to go the 2nd mile on controlling comparison.

Highlighting Honesty

You can tell our culture doesn’t see lying as that big of a sin when we always categorize our deceit as just “a little white lie.” Bearing false witness speaks clearly about our character and teaches others that we are untrustworthy. It’s not just about avoiding lies, but about being trusted to say the truth.

Redefining Robbery

The 8th commandment warns against stealing. Most of us think of theft as something that only criminals and children struggle doing. We almost feel impervious to such temptation. But are we? How frequent do we justify our subtle possession of things that do not belong to us?

Avoiding Adultery

A marriage cannot work with three people in it. Whether you have been guilty, considered it, or believe yourself to be immune to the temptation, it’s time to get real about avoiding adultery.

Addressing Anger

The 6th commandment warns against murder. While we all agree about the serious nature of this sin, not many see it as a real temptation. When Jesus came, he explained that the real danger was in the heart before it was in the hands. You might be more guilty than you realize.

Prizing Parents

Children who disobey their parents become students who disrespect teachers, employees who disagree with employers, citizens who disregard authorities, church members who discourage their pastors, adults who disvalue God.

Reclaiming Rhythms

Observing the Sabbath is a fight to admit one critical thought: I am not as important as I think I am.

Fading Flippancy

God’s name is not a free pass. It’s not a magic code. It’s not to be used as a trite prayer or a thoughtless lyric. We must stop being flippant with his name.

Waiving Worship

The 2nd of the commandments is forbidding idolatry. Now, here is a commandment that doesn’t condemn you, right? Wrong. This command is more than just ignoring the worship of statues. In fact, we are guilty of it more than we realize. It’s time to go the 2nd mile in waiving worship.

Removing Rivals

The 1st of the 10 commandments is all about having no other gods. It seems pretty simple in theory, but we are not so apt to keeping it. If you have reduced this rule to associating with only one religion, it is much more than that. We need to evaluate. It’s time to go the 2nd mile in removing rivals.
